Monticello Inaugural Bike Fest – March 20-21, 2015

Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, the town of Monticello and the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Bike Fest where cyclists can come and ride on beautiful canopied roads with rolling hills and spectacular scenery in Jefferson County. Bicycle enthusiasts can enjoy farmland and historic plantations; make reservations at the town’s Bed and Breakfasts and meet cyclists from various parts of Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

This inaugural Bike Fest will have plenty of fun and opportunity for all ages and levels of cyclists. The event includes a 10-miles Family Fun ride; a 30-miles Out & Back ride; a 60-miles Metric ride and a 100-miles Century ride. Routes will include fully-supported rest stops and custom jerseys will be available for purchase.

The festivities begin on Friday afternoon with a Photo Scavenger Hunt downtown followed by a lasagna dinner and guest speaker, Tracy Draper, who will share experiences about a recent cross country bike ride. From there you can mingle with guests at a cocktail party at the historic Avera-Clarke B&B just one block from where dinner is served.

The main event begins early Saturday morning with registration starting at 6 a.m., followed by a light breakfast. At 7 a.m., the first riders will start on their designated route and by 11 a.m., all riders will finish up at the Chamber where they can enjoy a Southern-style lunch that will offer plenty of opportunity for socializing to talk over the day’s events.

The Monticello Chamber of Commerce invites you to come and participate in this inaugural event that promises fun for the entire family with a special kind of Vendor Village that will be full of Monticello flavor.
