Celebrate New Year’s Eve In Historic Monticello

This New Year’s Eve, the Monticello Opera House invites you to take a step back into time and celebrate with “Music Through the Decades.” This special event will include dinner, dancing, a chocolate bar, off-broadway musical, costume contest and silent auction.

The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with drinks available from a full cash bar and the chance to mingle before indulging in a decadent dinner, served at 8 p.m. and catered by Carrie Ann & Co. The dinner will start with bourbon pork tenderloin or bourbon beef tenders and finish with a chocolate bar explosion.

At 9 p.m., a DJ will be playing music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, inviting you to dance until the ball drops. Be sure to come dressed in your favorite decade as prizes will be awarded for costumes immediately after midnight.

At 10 p.m., the Monticello Acting & Dance Co. will give a preview of the smash off-Broadway hit that will take you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom to meet the “Marvelous Wonderettes,” four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts!

Screen shot 2014-12-21 at 6.35.40 AMThere will be a break from dancing at 11 p.m., with a reveal from a sealed bid truck auction, where the winner of a 1995 Ford F-150 will be announced. The Opera House will accept sealed bids up until 10:45 New Year’s Eve. Proceeds from the auction will be used for purchasing an ice machine for the Opera House, with any excess going to their construction account to assist with needed repairs for the building.  (Minimum bid is $1995).

After the auction you can dance until the ball drops and toast in the New Year with a free drink from the Opera House. Don’t forget to hang around for the costume contest, where you could win a prize for your costume creativity!

This year, celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Monticello Opera House, located at 185 West Washingtoncorner-angle-copy Street in downtown Monticello!
