The Marvelous Wonderettes is presented through a special arrangement with Steele Spring Stage Rights.
This smash off-Broadway hit, written and created by Roger Bean, takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom to meet the Wonderettes, four best friends who are the trophy-winning varsity song leaders for their school.
Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy’s lives, and loves, are played out on the stage for audiences who will be captivated by the singing and choreography of Melanie Mays and Kevin Godwin of the Monticello Acting and Dance Company as the four girls share their stories through music from the 1950’s.
Swapping their crinoline skirts for go-go boots and miniskirts, the four girls return to Springfield High to attend the school’s 10-year reunion and make some surprising, funny and heartfelt discoveries about each other’s lives. Singing and dancing to songs such as “You Don’t Own Me,” “Leader Of The Pack,” and “Respect” in this second act of the performance draws the reunion, and the evening to a close.
A member of the audience finds himself unexpectedly intwined in the lives of the four friends, cast as their music teacher, making for a fun twist to the show.
It’s great to be a prom queen…but only if you’re the girl who wins the crown!
The music and costumes in the show will either take you through memories of the time period or introduce you to the songs and dress that made this era so popular.
At the end of the evening, the audience feels like a part of the four friend’s lives in this Dinner Theater, performed in an intimate setting, at the Monticello Opera House.
Betty Jean, Suzy, Cindy Lou and Missy, as the Marvelous Wonderettes, thank the audience with song for the amazing evening of wonderful memories.
